These terms cover your use of the Olde Town Chimney website. Having actual work done is a separate matter, governed by the written quote we hand you, and wherever the two ever disagree the written quote is the one that counts.
Who these terms are with
This site is published by Olde Town Chimney, a chimney and fireplace workshop in Arvada, Colorado. Using the site means you accept what follows. If you do not accept it, the remedy is simple enough: do not use the site.
What this website is
It is a shop window and a reference. It sets out the trades we carry, the town we serve, how we go about pricing work, and what we have learned on other people roofs. It is not a contract, not an offer, and not a promise that any particular job can be done for any particular figure.
Nothing on this site is a quote
This is the most important line on the page. Any range, figure or description of cost anywhere on this site is general information about how chimney work tends to be priced. It is not a quote for your chimney and it binds neither of us.
A real quote comes after a tradesman has seen the actual stack, and it comes in writing. The written number is the number. Nothing you read here overrides it, and nothing here obliges us to carry out work at a price inferred from a web page.
Asking for work is a request, not a booking
Sending the quote form, leaving details in the chat window or ringing the shop puts your job in front of us. It does not by itself reserve a date. A visit is booked once we have confirmed it with you directly. Preferred days and time windows are what we aim at, and weather, a job that turns out larger than it looked, or a genuine emergency elsewhere can all move a time. When that happens we tell you.
The no charge inspection
Where we offer an inspection at no charge, it means what it says. A tradesman looks the chimney over and tells you plainly what is there, you owe nothing for the look, and you are under no obligation to have any work done afterwards. It does not include sweeping, dismantling, repairs or any other labor. Each of those is work, and work gets quoted.
What we publish is general guidance, not an inspection
We write about hearths, fuel, maintenance and what various warning signs mean, because a homeowner who understands the chimney is a homeowner who looks after it. Please read it in that spirit. It is written about chimneys in general and it has never seen yours.
No article, guide or video on this site is a substitute for having your own flue examined, and none of it should be used to judge whether a chimney is safe to light. This trade involves fire, heights, structural masonry and combustion gases. If you act on general reading rather than on an inspection of your own chimney, you do so at your own risk. When in doubt, stop and have it looked at.
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or believe fire is burning anywhere it should not be, leave the building and call the emergency services before you call us.
Using the site properly
You are welcome to read the site, print pages for your own use and link to it from anywhere you like. You may not lift the text or photographs onto another site, harvest it in bulk, put false details through the forms, or interfere with how it runs.
Photographs and words
The job photographs, the written guides and the rest of the material here are ours. They were taken on our own jobs and written at our own bench, and they stay ours. Ask before using them and the answer will usually be yes, which is a good deal more than you get by simply taking them.
Links to other places
Where we link out to a manufacturer, a standards body or anyone else, it is for your convenience. We do not control those sites and we are not answerable for what they say or do.
Availability and accuracy
We keep the site as accurate and current as we can, and we will not pretend it is free of every error or available every minute of every day. Pages change, services change, and a server occasionally has a bad morning.
Liability
So far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising out of your use of this website or out of anything done on the strength of reading it. That does not touch our responsibility for work our crew actually carries out on your property, which is a matter for the agreement covering that work and for Colorado law. Nothing here is meant to exclude any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, and any dispute arising out of them belongs in the courts of that state.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The version that applies is always the one on this page, dated below.
