This notice explains what Olde Town Chimney collects when you use this website or ask us for work, what we do with it, and how to reach us about it. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ring the shop and ask.
Olde Town Chimney is a chimney and fireplace workshop serving Arvada, Colorado. Our workshop address and telephone number are at the foot of this page.
What we collect
What you tell us. When you fill in the quote form, the careers form or the chat window, we receive what you type into it. For a quote request that usually means your name, telephone number, email address, the address of the property, your town and ZIP, the sort of building it is, the service you are asking about, a preferred day and time window, how soon you need us, how you would like to be contacted, and anything you write in the message box. The careers form takes your contact details and whatever you choose to tell us about your experience. If we are running a giveaway, entering it takes a name, an email address and your town.
What your browser tells us. As on nearly every website, basic technical information is recorded when a page is requested: the internet address the request came from, the page asked for, and general details about the browser and device. We also keep a log of addresses that were requested but do not exist, which is how broken links get found and fixed.
What we never ask for. We do not take payment through this website. There is no checkout, no card field and no bank detail anywhere on it. Payment for work is arranged directly with the shop.
Why we collect it and what we do with it
We use what you send us to do the thing you asked us to do, which is nearly always to quote a job, book a visit or answer a question. In practice that means a tradesman reads it, we call or write back, and the details sit in our job records so the crew knows where they are going and what they are going to be looking at.
We also use it to keep the work straight afterwards: what was quoted, what was done and when the chimney was last seen. If you ring years later about a repair we carried out, those records are how we remember it.
Form submissions are screened for spam before they reach the job book. Where an automated screening service is switched on for that, the details of the request are checked against it.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your information. We do not rent or trade it to anybody for their own marketing.
It passes through a short list of hands, each for a specific reason.
Our own crew. The people who quote the work and then carry it out.
Telegram. New job requests are sent to the shop as a Telegram message so the bench sees them quickly rather than at the end of the day. The contents of a request therefore pass through that messaging service.
Our hosting. The site runs on a server we rent, and what you send is stored on it.
Measurement and spam tools, where they are switched on. Described in the next section.
We will also hand information over where the law genuinely requires it of us. That is a narrow thing and not something we do casually.
Cookies and measurement
Some cookies are needed for the site to work at all, such as remembering that you have already answered the cookie notice, or keeping you signed in if you hold an account with us. Those are set because the site cannot function properly without them.
Anything beyond that, such as analytics that count visits and show which pages get read, runs only if you agree to it through the notice that appears on your first visit. Google Analytics is the service we would use for that when it is enabled. You can decline and the site carries on working perfectly well. If you change your mind later, clearing this site cookies in your browser brings the notice back so you can answer it differently.
Your browser may offer a Do Not Track setting. There is still no agreed standard for how a website should answer it, so we do not rely on it. The cookie notice on this site is the control that actually governs what runs.
How long we keep it
Job records and quote requests are kept for as long as they are useful to the work, which in a trade that gets asked back years later is a long while. Chimneys outlive most paperwork. If you would rather we did not keep yours, say so and we will remove it, unless we are required to hold a record for tax or legal reasons.
How we look after it
The site is served over an encrypted connection, so what you type into a form is protected on its way to us. Access to the job records is limited to the people who need them to do the work. No website can promise perfect security and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something, but we do not collect more than the job actually needs, which is the most reliable protection there is.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can tell us to stop contacting you at any time and we will stop. You can refuse analytics cookies and still use the site. None of these are favors and you do not need to give a reason for any of them.
Colorado gives residents rights over personal information held by larger companies. A workshop our size may well sit under the thresholds those rules set, but we would rather honor the requests than argue about whether we are obliged to, so ask and we will deal with it.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and it will be removed.
Changes to this notice
If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date on it changes too. We will not quietly widen what we collect and leave an old notice standing.
How to reach us about any of this
To ask about this notice, or to make any of the requests above, ring the shop on (720) 223-5405, write to us at 5613 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Ste 120, Arvada, CO 80002, or use the form on our contact page. A person will answer.
